Percy Jackson & the Olympians introduces 12-year-old Percy, a troubled kid who discovers he's a demigod (son of Poseidon) after his teacher transforms into a Fury and attacks him, with his satyr best friend Grover saving him. Accused of stealing Zeus's lightning bolt, Percy embarks on a perilous quest across America with Grover and fellow demigod Annabeth Chase (Athena's daughter) to find the bolt, prevent a war between gods, and rescue his captured mother from the Underworld, confronting mythical monsters and learning about his divine heritage along the way.
